|a The Library of the West Bohemia Museum in Pilsen has been built systematically since the museum's foundation in 1878. After the division of the original institution into Pilsen Minucipal Historical Museum and the Museum of Decorative Arts for West Bohemia in 1888, two separate libraries were established for the respective museums. The library was being built both through public donations and systematic purchases, including the collection of manuscripts, incunabula and old prints. In 1950, the library of the Historical Museum was transferred into the newly established State Research Library in Pilsen. The library of the Museum of Decorative Arts was subsequently being developed as a library for both museums, which were united into one institution, called the West Bohemia Museum. The funds of its library contain a research fund continuously supplied with current production in social and natural sciences. The library is organized as a reference library providing its services to general public as well as researchers. The collection fund of the library contains manuscripts, incunabula, old prints, book cover artworks and bibliophilic books. The library comprises of 90 thousand issues in its study fund and 12 thousand in the collection fund. Prominent are the beginning of the 20th of Czech and foreign origin (Russia, France and Germany), Pilsen and regional prints since of Renaissance humanism literature from all around Europe.
